Last night I worked on my science experiment. My hypothesis was that different nuts would have different amounts of energy. The goal was to see which one would boil water fastest and that one would have the most energy. But none of them really boiled the water. We tried a peanut, cashew, almond, cinnamon coated almond, walnut, and a big walnut. There was a big can and a small can. The big one had the top and bottom taken off with a can opener and little holes around the bottom. The little can had 4 screws sticking out of the sides to hold in onto the big can. It had just the top taken off so it could hold the water. The nuts were held under the little can so that it was sort of inside of the big can on the table top. The nuts were held up with a needle sticking into a cork. We lit each nut on fire and put in under the can. Then we waited. We timed how long each nut burned. Some of the nuts were hard to light and keep burning. The big walnut caught the cork on fire so we tried to blow it out but we couldn't bow it out, so we had to put it in the sink and keep dumping water on it! Finally we got it out. That was the end of the experiment pretty much. I think that the walnut (even the smaller one) had more energy. They stayed burning easier and longer and smoked more than the others.
This blog is for all of my friends and family. I'm going to be talking about events in my life.
